How it Works

Shadow Magic is a very dark, harsh and powerful magic. It is very difficult to be able to grasp the breathtaking benefits that these spells have to offer. As of now, there are 3 brand new Shadow Spells. Depending on your school will determine which spell you may obtain for free, with the other 2 spells available for training points. You may be thinking, aren’t these just more polymorphs? Well no, not at all. These are spells that transform your Wizard into more powerful and stronger beings, while still being able to keep all your stats and spells you already have.

 Shadow Pips
To be able to use Shadow Magic, you must have a new type of pip called a “Shadow Pip.” It is only possible to obtain Shadow Pips once you have mastered the art of Shadow Magic. So, you may ask yourself; where do the Shadow Pips go or how do I know if I have one. Well that is simple. There is now a new section above where you gain your regular/power pips for a Shadow Pip. You are only allowed to have 1 Shadow Pip at a time due to the fact that Shadow Spells only cost 1 pip. It is completely random as to when you will get a Shadow Pip during a battle. Once you get a Shadow Pip you may keep it until you use your Shadow Spell, and it will eventually come back for you to use yet another Shadow Spell.

Backlash
While Shadow spells can be very helpful, they do come with a cost; Backlash. Backlash starts out at 30% for all Shadow Spells. At the end of the 3 round Shadow transformation, it will deal damage on you ignoring all resists, shields and modifiers. Performing something your Shadow spell “likes” will remove 10% of the Backlash each time you provide that "like". You can only get a minimum of 10% Backlash from doing the things it likes all three rounds. When doing something the Shadow spell you are using doesn't like; it will add 10% Backlash each time, with a maximum of 60%. Though, 70% Backlash can be achieved through the process of using Shadow Sentinel and a Power Link or Link spell which adds 10% Backlash for the damage and adds 10% Backlash for the healing, this results in a cumulative of 20% of extra Backlash added. The percent of Backlash you have when your Shadow Spell ends (3 Rounds) will be directed in damage towards your wizard.
